Connor's Family Restaurant Review. 138 Albion St S, Amherst, NS

Honestly? Not that amazing. We decided to go there after they had to move downtown due to the fire. I had gone to the previous location twice before (The first time we walked out-- a glass of orange juice costs $5.50+tax. You could buy two cartons for that price. The second time I was determined to see if the quality matched the price. It doesn't.) We had breakfast there; we had the cheapest thing, which was the special. It came with bacon and sausage; greasy bacon makes me feel sick to my stomach so I asked if I could just have no bacon and an extra sausage or something. Nope. There's no flexibility in the orders. Oh, and when she asked how I wanted my eggs, I replied "boiled". Guess what? They don't boil eggs. Since our arrival I heard people at two different tables asking for the same thing, to which one elderly gentleman asked "You don't have water and a pot?" Ha! I'm usually a very good customer but I just found myself to be rolling my eyes at the whole experience. There weren't many people in there (It was almost 9am on a Saturday morning) and now I'm pretty sure I know why. Remember the orange juice I mentioned earlier? It came in a glass that was almost exactly 4 inches tall. And no, it wasn't wide either. I'm not sure how many ounces that is, but I digress. The meal arrived pretty quickly, but the meat was greasy and the eggs felt like they had a film over them (I ended up having them poached). There were a lot of kids screaming and yelling and clanging dishes nearby so it was really hard to hear anything. The waitress even had to lean in close to hear our order, but it didn't even occur to her to tell them to quiet down a bit. I'm used to hearing loud kids and such, but this was just excessive so the point of being pathetic. It was really cold in there too; I was shivering as I tried to make the best of my meal. I would've left but I wanted to spend some quality time with my Dad, who was keen on going there.

Allow me to summarize: Food came quickly, but is overpriced and greasy. Everything was clean and new, but it was incredibly noisy. It was really cold in the dining area too. They don't boil eggs for some odd reason, and they aren't flexible with meal preparation. They have a large variety on the menus though, and the seats were comfortable. So if you don't mind paying almost double what you would anywhere else for really greasy food, don't mind the cold, and don't want boiled eggs, then you won't have any problems. Two generous stars out of five.

West Winds Restaurant Review. 34 Hwy 6, AMHERST, NS

On August 17th 2012, in the evening, my friend and I had a very unpleasant experience at this restaurant. We were very hungry and decided to step in for a meal. We are of African descent. We were standing there for a time until someone who was, from our perception, not a staff member, told us to sit down at a table and that we would be served. We complied because he was sitting close to the till where the waitress was. There were only two tables that were occupied so we assumed that we would not have to wait very long for service. We were sitting there for some time until the same gentleman, apparently noting that we were not being served, brought us two menus. We were ready to order, but no one came to us although the waitress passed by us a few times. She even went to the table immediately behind us and served them and we thought we would be next in line, or that she would say something to us. She did not: she just passed by us and never acknowledged our presence. It was as if we were not there. After waiting a good twenty minutes, we thanked the gentleman who brought us the menu and left. During our visit to Nova Scotia we visited a number of restaurants and were impressed by the courteous service. Sadly, your restaurant was the exception: we were made to feel invisible.

August 13/012, Had the worst food from a restaurant in a long time, nothing was real, the hot sandwhich had can gravy, and the meat was out of a package same for the turkey dinner my mother ordered, the whole clams i ordered and i use that term lightly were few and don't get me started on the rice, i would throw it out if i had that at home and besides that it was served cold. It wasn't busy and it was around 11:45am when we were there.

Jungle Jim's Review. 147 Albion St S, Amherst, NS

My husband and I plus another couple always dine out on Friday nights. We thought that after a few years of being away from Jungle Jim's due to continuously poor service and cuisine that we would try it once again. We had heard that it was under new management and that things had drastically improved. Well, we were very pleasantly surprised that the food was excellent. Each of us had something different and each meal was well presented, tasty and the portions substantial. Our server was polite, friendly, attentive and helpful. The premises were clean and the decor pleasing. We have decided to add Jungle Jim's to our regular eating places for Friday meals out. Kudos to the new management!!!

Jungle Jim's Review. 147 Albion St S, Amherst, NS

We also love going to Jungle Jim's and yes sometimes the service could be a bit better but so can everyplace else's. On the whole it is a wonderful place to eat and the workers are very friendly and if you don't like what you order because of a problem with the way it is cooked all you have to tell them and ask for it to be done o your liking. I personally think their hamburgers are the best anywhere. If you are going to not go places that you didn't have a good experience at once then the world must be very limited for you. I will be back many many more times.
