I don't know about the food or the service but you really should eat here. Why? Because the owner is a shining example and pillar of the community. I have caught him cleaning up trash that the local community decides to drop wherever they like within 100 m of his store. This is not his responsibility and not his sins but he cares for the local community. For this reason alone should you go and visit. Beyond that, Herring Cove is a nice drive, bike ride, motorcycle trip from Halifax. There are several walking trails and the closest best view of the Harbor. Come and experience Herring Cove. As to the food, every day / night, the parking lot is full. So they are doing something right. The food must be good. It opened May 2009 to a bustling business. Since it has opened, business has slowed down. Buisness is expected to pick up as the summmer approaches. It is the only Restaurant SE of Spryfield on the Chebucto Peninsula so bikers and tourists should plan a stop in the picturesque village of Herring Cove. They sell slices of pizza the size of your head and have a full menu but are not yet licensed. It has both eat in, deck eating and take out. The deck eating has a good view but most of the time it is too windy or cold to utilize the space. Time will tell if the restaurant survives.
