I went to this store on 10/1 at around late 10pm- early 11pm with my cousin, who's never been to canada before. I wanted the starbucks experience, which is to get a beverage and to have pleasant customer service. Nothing too fancy like a backrub or someone shining my shoes while i drink my frap, nothing like that. All i wanted was just a drink and a smile, nothing more.
that isn't what i got.
what i got:
the barista asked us what we wanted, i gave her our order. she then started to act very impatient and negative when she wanted to know what names we should put on our drinks. I dont' know why anyone would be impatient but that's how she acted. I guess it might be because we might not look like the average individual that is named 'scott' or 'ralph'. so we gave her our names, then she asked how will we be paying for our drinks, i responded with a smile by saying that i'll be using my membership card to pay for our drinks, and that I would like to load my card with $50. we then proceeded to make our payment and she then said 'thank you' in a very unfriendly impatient manner, like we are the ones that should be waiting on her and not the other way around.
when my drink came, the other barista (barista # 2 ) gave me my cousin's beverage and all i had to do was wait for mine. I was thinking to myself that I should just ignore the other barista's behaviour, she might be having a bad day or whatever. lo and behold, when my drink came, the other barista was putting on pumpkin spice on my drink. i am very happy whenever i see pumpkin spice being put on anything that i'm going to eat/drink, so i said 'wow, pumpkin spice well tis the season for pumpkin spice! thank you that's very nice'. the reply i got was a very condescending, rude and in a mocking manner was 'yes "tis the season for pumpkin spice"'.
so i just thought to myself, these people have no concept of customer service and that they've been badly trained. after all, as a professional, if an employee fails it is not the mistake of the employee it is the mistake of that employee's manager for not training them properly and for not putting that employee in a position of success.
i go and have starbucks every day, i have starbucks drinks multiple times during the day. I realise that this experience is an anomaly, but on the other hand, I am not a degenerate and I did nothing to deserve this treatment.
I called up starbucks customer care hotline 1-800-782-7282 on 10/3 and i was promised that Cody smith the regional manager would call me back with 24-48 hours. it's been over 48 hours and I have not heard from anyone named smith.
i implore anyone and everyone that likes starbucks to never go to this store and to go to any other starbucks store in the vicinity, and there are many.
these starbucks people promise all of their customers that they will always deliver when it comes to giving their customers the starbucks experience. if they are not going to deliver on their promise then why should I or anyone else for that matter do business with them? especially when there are other options around.
next time, i'm spending my money alot more wisely which is to never go to the starbucks at 370 king st, toronto.
