Duffy's Tavern's response to this review: Thank You! :) Comment on 6059th visitor's Review of Duffy's Tavern
I have lived in this neighborhood for many years and give Duffys Tavern all my love, respect and loyalty! They were around when no one else was (Including 3-Speed, Bar Neon, The Emerson...). They have risen to the occasion and should be crowned King of Bars in Bloordale Village! Since Harrison (owner) took possession, they have overcome all bureaucratic and social obstacles and have stood their ground proudly! I personally commend their efforts and sacrifices over the past decade. Many people may not truly understand what the title of being One of the oldest bars in Toronto means....lets face it folks, 66 years is a long time! Congratulations Duffys, you deserve it!
We ate there yesterday, food was amazing! I had a Greek salad and the deep fried ravioli with marinara sauce-awesome! Thanks Duffy's, See you again soon. )
Our family summer vacation this year took us from Winnipeg to Toronto. While driving down Bloor St we noticed Duffy's Tavern and decided to make a pit stop and have a family dinner. Upon entering we were seated at a table near the middle of the bar and informed there was no food available but a kitchen was being built. Our hungry stomachs were unimpressed as we discovered that pickled eggs, hot rod jerky and potato chips were the only foodstuffs available.#bar #beer #eat #eating #eggs #family #hot #hungry #pizza #summer #winnipeg Respond
I noticed one particular gentleman at the bar was sipping his beer out of a fancy piece of glassware and requested the same glass for my beverage only to be informed that was the only glass like that. I felt slightly embarrassed but quickly forgot about it as I bit into my pickled egg.
We ordered about 22$ worth of food; 16 pickled eggs and 6 bags of chips only to find out that outside food was allowed as a man walked in with a large pizza and began eating it at the table near us. My kids immediately were upset by this as I had forced them to eat 4 pickled eggs each for daily proteins.
After this event we decided we would leave to get the kids dessert, but my two boys and I decided to take a bathroom break before departing. We walked past the ladies room to the mens only to find one stall which was kept in a horrific condition. One of my sons was traumatized as I helped him hover over the bowl and our older son laughed and taunted him as this unfolded. Two patrons of the bar entered the bathroom and made a rude comment about me and my son in the stall together before laughing ignorantly. I smelt a particualr smell and noticed they had lit a cigarette and providing bad influences to my two impressionable sons.
We left Duffy's and won't be returning but the service was efficient.
I offered my e-mail address to your owner (and any-one else who wishes to respond) but I have received no reply (I should get an apology and a night of free drinks) so here it is again.#night Respond
Why not respond to someone's genuine concerns.
Your bartending staff (the young lady in particular) are among the rudest, most ineffectual, intrusive and infantile people I've ever come across in Toronto. Your management seems unable to understand the concept of customer service........ your decor and lighting (and cleanliness level) are beyond reproach. You should realize that being excessively terse with certain customers can sometimes be a very silly and unprofitable thing to do. Whoever Cristal is, should be fired. Nice overserving of drunks and cutting off of relatively sober people just cuz they don't agree with everything you believe in. In my case, I actually have a sense of humour.Respond
We stopped in at Duffys on Sunday night (Aug 7)and saw an amazing singer with a piano and bass player. Does any body know when I can see them again? Kudos to Duffys for supporting live Jazz music.
