Last week, Mr. Shelbourne went to Everest Restaurant & Lounge with one of his assistants. They had a meal, and at one point he had to use the washroom. It was not accessible and he nicked the door with his wheelchair going in.
As Mr. Shelbourne and his communication assistant were leaving the restaurant, after paying for their meals, the restaurant manager pulled Mr. Shelbourne's assistant aside and informed her that they were not welcome back. She said that the restaurant was newly renovated and wheelchairs aren't welcome because they cause damage.
They list as wheelchair accessible but they told my friend who uses a wheelchair never to come back. The bathrooms are not accessible either. They also refused to talk to him, they talked to his assistant even though he was right there. they pretended he didn't exist. When confronted later about the incident they refused to apologize and said they didn't care if the restaurant got listed as non-accessible and then phoned the police on my friend. Total jerks and not professional or courteous at all. So many restaurants in town will treat you great, but not this place, if you're disabled at least.
