When your meat smells rancid right out of the package on the day you bought it not to mention all 4 different packs of meat that we bought had to be taken back due to past best before date There is a problem and big issues there. I have only gone there 3 times and I will never go back! Ill just pay sobeys prices and get exceptional meat not rancid spoiled meat. Sorry Roberts, well not really but you suck
Maybe you purchased wrong cut? I was in store yesterday and purchased ribs and I was very happy with them. I noticed they do have several different ribs available. Sounds like you wanted center cut ribs and that's what you purchased at Sobeys. What was the price difference? I think your post is miss-leading and felt I should comment. If your going to compare it should be apples to apples or in this case ribs to ribs. I have been a customer of this store for 3 years and have found their quality and pricing some of the best in the region. Just my 2 cents worth for what its worth.
Went into store Friday and was very impressed! Found some ridiculous deals where some luncheon meats were closer to code but I expected that seeing the price. Most stuff had excellent dates and pricing was amazing! Purchased some fresh meat and was blown away by the quality for what I paid. This place is such a gem! Not sure what some people complain about must have nothing better to do or expect everything for nothing wow! Staff was friendly all be back!
Poor went into kitchener store for the first time on Friday. Purchased two packages of side ribs. They looked rely good. Went to smoke them for guests on Sunday and noticed the Styrofoam packing was cut in half and the meet was double stacked. No problem, but the ribs hidden underneath were not ribs at all. It was a slab of crappie pork and no solid bones whatsoever. Both packs being the same I took the underneath slabs of meat and Zipp locked them in backs and frozen them for soup meat and or dog food. Went to sobeys and but two more nice slabs of ribs with no negative suprises.

Just bought a huge club pack of Maple Leaf Hot dogs (about 72 pieces) for my son who was having friends over for a BBQ. They just about threw up after eating some - found out that the entire pack was dated June 7, 2015. The purchase date was July 4, 2015. I have seen similar situations with this store in the past. Buyer Beware! If you want a great deal go for it at the expense of your health!!

The whole China thing has been around for years and barring any significant changes in how we all look at things it will be around for many more and here is why....simply put...PRICE...let me explain.
I have on a number of occasions sent out emails to all of our customers looking for feedback specifically regarding Chinese and non-Chinese product. I ask for feedback regarding customer comments and complaints and share with them the options that are available from countries other than China. I also share with them the cost of non - Chinese product vs product from China. On every survey I have conducted more than 90% of all customers choose price before country of origin as the NUMBER 1 factor in choosing a supplier. Are there other options, absolutely and when asked most customers would without a doubt choose to receive product from countries other than China if they could, unfortunately it would be business suicide as there are more consumers that shop with their pocket books than there are those that shop based on where the product comes from...as a supplier to stores like Roberts we too face that same dilemma. Fortunately, we do offer a large number of non Chinese products as well so those that are absolutely set on not buying Chinese you do have choices. For those of you that do buy Chinese product, please rest assured that we take every step possible to ensure that every single bag of frozen fruits or vegetables you purchase at Roberts Boxed Meats is processed according to the very strictest Canadian standards by processing facilities that were hand selected based on several Food Safety Criteria developed specifically by our company, for our company. We do take great pride in the items we offer to our customers, hopefully for those of you that have tried the product it will show.
Good morning. I understand your concern regarding product of China but I know the supplier of the fruits and vegetables very well and understand why some of the products are Chinese. I also know that the suppliers first priority is to provide TOP QUALITY products at the most reasonable price and understand the number of food safety programs they have in place especially with their Chinese suppliers. What is difficult for suppliers is that not all products can be found in Canada or even North America and even though some people may prefer other countries like Peru, Mexico, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Chile over China all countries including Canada and the USA have had their fair share of issues over the years....they are just not as highly publicized. I have been in the fruit and vegetable business for over 30 years and have tried several times to work more closely with Canadian growers ( especially on the fruit ) to develop the business here in Canada, unfortunately, without going into a lot of detail it just wont happen, the economics of it just arent there. Its also economics that forces most of us at one time or another whether it is the food we eat, the tvs we buy, the computers we use or something else to at least consider product from China....The supplier of these products is located right here in Ontario, they are registered with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, have a GOLD STANDARD CERTIFICATION from Guelph Food Technology and are ORGANICALLY CERTIFIED as well. They take great pride in the products they sell and take every possible step to ensure that ALL of the product no matter what country it comes from meet only the highest standards.
