Yes ... well ... weve had the fish and chips at The Glen and ... yes ... an excellent choice. However, we went there for New Years dinner, to have their Special prepared meal. We expected a delightful and tasty dinner. In a word ... awful. Although I admit there were morsels considered acceptable. We chose Warm Kale Salad, and while this was tasty the word warm could not be associated with this dish. Mine arrived cool, my friends lukewarm. In any case, we looked forward with anticipation our second choice, the Rack of Lamb. My advice ... do not order this. Both our plates arrived cool. There was nothing warm or steaming hot about this dish. The lamb was hard. In fact our server recommended steak knives to cut through the meat. A saw would have been a more meaningful choice. And further, the meat inside was blood red. Terribly undercooked. The charred sprouts werent simply crusty or savoury, they were like stored hay, hard enough to give a horse a tough time chewing. The cranberry and sweet potato chips however, although cool were somewhat redeeming (but then again, they were just cranberry and chips). We held out hope however and selected the Caramel Apple for dessert, expecting at least a moment of respite. What arrived was an apple, the core removed, and filled with caramel, and a scoop of ice cream. Now, this would have been a delight except that the caramel was rock hard. We needed steak knives again to cut through the mound. A hammer and chisel might have been a better choice. All in all, not even close as a choice for New Years. I feel it was money very poorly spent and above all else a terrible meal. It was so difficult to cut through the tough and hardened portions, our plates actually slid across the table ... just from trying to cut through the meat and other dishes. The wine, however, a Merlot, was good and the servers very friendly and cordial. I dont think, however, that were likely to Haste Ye Back! for anything other than simple fish and chips.#dessert #dinner #fish #friends #hot #meat #salad #steak #sweet #tasty #wine Respond
