We had my son's birthday party here last weekend, there were 20 of us, we ordered the delicious camarao a casa, which is grilled shrimp with a lemon butter type of sauce, and we had grilled sausage that is served on a clay pot, the appetizers came out really quick, but then we waited about 20 minuts more for our main cours. It was still pretty good time considering there were so many of us and they prepare all of their food fresh from scratch. There were 3 waitstaff serving that night, our waitress was very polite and prompt. The other two would pass by our table and check up on us even though it wasn't their section.I was impressed with the food, our steaks were grilled perfectly as we asked, the fish seabass was very fresh and the veggies were excellent. My favourite part of the meal was the natas do ceu, their house specialty, and the chef surprise cake. This place is fairly small, and they only had 3 people working in the kitchen! We always come here for special occasions, it is a small cozy place, the staff are very friendly and the cooks are very organized and fast, considering how many people they have to serve when the place is full at the same time. Thank you all for great service!!!
I just have to say that I always go to this restaurant for chicken. They have the best bbq chicken, moist and not over cooked. Sometimes the food takes a while, so dont go if youre in a rush. The food is always fresh and thats why it takes a little longer. The service was good, the waiter is always very attentive and helpful. Thank you Vila Verde for cooking amazing fresh meals :)
Ive been Vila verde customer for more than 20 years and I can affirm that this restaurant is the best portugues Restaurant. If you do not want to spend a lot of money but you want to eat a delicious meal this Is the place you Are looking for... This is 100% true. I know all Toronto Portuguese restaurants...! Carlos
I went there for a late lunch/dinner to celebrate my birthday. I ordered the Portuguese chicken (suppposed to be their specialty). The food took over an hour to arrive. When it came, my chicken was burnt (black with bits of brown spots visible), the potatoes were just as hard as the chicken and the rice had no flavour. I complained to the waitress who didn't even offer to get me another plate. Also the owner/manager didn't even come by to see how the food or the service was.
When the waitress took my plate (the meal almost completely returned), I could see her telling the cook about my complaint; who obviously didn't care.
I went home starving and had to pick up a separate dinner on the way home.
I have been yup plenty of good Portuguese restaurants in Toronto and the GTA, Vila Verde is by far THEE WORST Portuguese restaurant i have been to; both for food and for service.
It's awful when you go out to eat at an establishment and the owners / cooks don't even care what the patrons are saying. They really should because those are the people keeping them in business.
