My family came here one day for lunch when we were on vacation. It looks quaint and nice on the outside but don't be deceived! The wait is terrible. It took us over an hour to get served our food after we ordered, and it took twenty minutes for us to be even greeted by our waitress, who turned out to be friendly. The kitchen staff was awful though and the food came out cold and bland. Seafood chowder had no meat, the fish and chips were served cold, as was the pan fried haddock, and the fries were all cold.#family #fish #fries #lunch #seafood Respond

Very happy with our choice of The Finer Diner for brunch with friends this holiday weekend. Our party chose a lobster eggs benny and smoked salmon eggs benny both of which were excellent-served piping hot with home fries. Very friendly service and a visually stimulating environment with local art and beautiful ocean surroundings. A perfect choice for an easy, affordable brunch!#art #beautiful #brunch #eggs #friends #happy #holiday #hot #lobster #local #party #salmon Respond

Stopped for supper and was greatly disappointed. Expected a restaurant in Peggy's Cove area to have a menu with more seafood choices. It was so loud I had to take my hearing aid out. The fish and chips were awful, the fries burnt, the batter had some green stuff in it. The corn chowder was ordinary and a cup of chowder is served in a teacup not a soup mug. For $24 you will get 2pieces of fish and chips and a teacup of corn chowder. No clams or scallops on the menu either. Very disappointing.#fish #fries #restaurant #seafood #soup Respond

Love the view, love the decor, and the food is pretty good. The service on the other hand was terrible (service is part of the experience of dinning out and impacts meal) and because if this, we will not be back. We used to go at least three times a year because it is a close location to where we live, the food is pretty good and the view is we really nice too.#drink #love #patio #pretty Respond
Today, after thinking about places to enjoy a patio supper we chose "The Finer Diner". Our waitress delivered our appetizer without utensils which happens but after walking by three times without noticing I finally had to go inside to retrieve them.
She also did not bring my drink out which I had to retrieve as well. She then was about to bring out my husbands pop which I asked for during the meal. I was not abrupt or noticeably bothered, or angry but became very annoyed by the fact that every time I would say thank you, for clearly 'minimal' service, her reply was "no problem" instead of even a minuscule amount of service manners.
I know how this must sound but this is the first time I have posted anything about the poor service I have received because most times it is pretty good.
I am also speaking from experience as I waitressed for years and the number one thing we were taught was that your customers could have eaten at home or anywhere else but they chose to come to our establishment and pay good money to experience a meal out. We could have gone anywhere to spend our (tonight's amount was $62.00) money but we chose The Finer Diner and we will not anymore.

may 10th, 2012 - unfortunately had a disappointing lunch experience at the finer diner. there were 3 of us who ordered - 2 orders were for hot hamburger sandwiches - both open face. one of us asked for gravy to be spread over fries as well and after a "funny" conversation about the price of a "side of fried onions" we decided to order the bowl and split the onions between the 2 burgers. when the orders arrived, the gravy had been forgotten over the fries and the onions were already "scantly" split between both sandwiches (possibly a tsp each). when the bills arrived, the charge for the onions was $1.79 (split between both parties), the gravy was listed as a side for .99 cents and yet no deduction was made for the 2 slices of bread they were spared for us having asked for "open faced" sandwiches. sometimes .... small tradeoffs should be absorbed (or at least make an order of "fried onions for $1.79" arrive to the table as an actual "side" not a garnish).#fries #hot #lunch Respond

wow what can I say I was there the other weekend and I understand they have a new cook...well i have on several other attempts ordered the burger and its always way overcooked and dry, but since I was informed there was a new cook I thought I would try my luck....WOW best juicy burger I have ever had. I believe they said her name was Tina (maybe) but what a great cook she is, I will definately be back again since I can now expect great burgers!!!!!!!#burger #weekend Respond

Great food and great service when the owners are working. The older woman server is very unpleasant to deal with. When the owners aren't around, she turns customers away and refuses to serve them on the patio. Wish the owners were around more often. The Finer Diner is at its finest when Sarah's around.#diner Respond

From our server to the fantasic food and deserts this is literally an awesome place to eat. The view from anywhere in this establishment could warrant a cover charge itself.Look no further if you are looking for an excellent experence.#awesome #canada #ontario Respond

The Finer Diner was a real gem and a real surprise. Nestled in what most city-slickers would consider to be the middle of nowhere, it springs out at you as you bomb down a turn on Peggy's Cove Road. Feeling famished after a long drive, we stopped at the Diner for a quick lunch. Thinking it was just going to be some regular diner grub turned out to be one of the absolute BEST MEALS we had on our journey (we had the Seafood Chowder and the Bagel and Lox. Everything was super fresh and just absolutely beautiful). We had a really hard time deciding whether we'd pick The Finer Diner or a 5-star restaurant in Downtown Halifax as our best meal on the entire trip. In the end, we agreed The Finer Diner beat out the 5-star. The food was impeccable. The serene scenery of a quiet fishing village really adds to the charm and the feeling of the East Coast. The sights and sounds of lapping water really adds to the flavour of "East Coast" authenticity as you munch on the Seafood Chowder while looking out at the dinghies and fishing boats drifting quietly on the still water. If you happen to visit Peggy's Cove, I'd highly recommend you stop by The Finer Diner.#downtown #fresh #halifax #restaurant #seafood Respond

The Finer Diner has ok food but for the price I felt ripped off. The art work wasn't fitting for the rest of the atmosphere and in regard to Bouchy, The "Older server" who works there was very nice with us, she was the only one who went out of her way to make sure that we left with a smile. It is easy to tell that you don't work in a restaurant environment and can pick people apart. Well get off your high horse and take a second to think as to how hard her job actually is. Maybe she wouldn't be "rude and lazy" if the owners were there to run their OWN business and help out. I know first hand how busy restaurants get in the summer and how easy and money hungry owners get and only want one server working, breaking their back so that they can bank all the money possible without paying out too much labor. Unhappy servers are directly related to poor work environments.#art #hungry #restaurant #summer #work Respond

Our favourite local with a friendly staff, good "comfort food", and a lovely view of one of the prettiest coves on the Peggy's Cove Road. Appropriate tunes for a "diner" play quietly in the background and paintings by the owner/artist add a unique character to the restaurant. Two thumbs up!#local Respond
